Don’t get me wrong, I love baking brownies from scratch but sometimes there is just not enough time, or energy, to get this done. Ina Paarman’s brownie mix has become a staple in my cupboard, it’s an easy throw together dessert for last minute tea’s or dinner’s, or simply just to curve that sweet tooth craving. However sometimes a simple brownie just doesn’t cut it, so here comes the twist, the real hero of the story… throw in a more or less a cup of crushed pecan nuts to add the perfect chewy nutty crunch. It elevates the underestimated brownie to a delicious and more nutritious treat.
Pecans are high in nutrients that include vitamin E, A, B6, B1, B12, B9, B2 and K. They also include minerals such as magnesium, calcium, copper, zinc, iron and phosphorus. Pecans contain about 3 grams of proteins and fiber. There are many more healthy reasons as to why you should eat pecans, or at least make you feel better for eating brownies with them in.
