Beautiful hand made bags with a wide base.  Perfect for chargers, cosmetics…   Shweshwe is one of the main cotton textiles used in designs. The original Shweshwe printed fabric has become synonymous with quality by both the formal and informal sectors of the economy.  Shweshwe is 100% cotton and because these fabrics are starched in the factory – that’s the tradition – they are quite stiff when new. After washing they are lovely and soft and easy to work with.

Basadi’s mission is to support rural women in their community by providing training, marketing, and sales for their hand-crafted work and assisting in the development of their skills and capacity, therefore, supporting family income needs.

Rural women, who constitute one-fourth of the world’s population, continue to face more difficulty than men in accessing public services, social protection, employment and markets, due to cultural norms, security issues and lack of identification documents.  Tshega is focused on empowering of rural women.

Basadi works in the villages of Bolobedu South, near Tzaneen in Limpopo.
